David L. Davis II was born and raised in Miami, Florida to a father who is a sports and athletic coach and mother who is an educator. His parents’ background in sports and education sparked his interest and curiosity in the human body and how it works. Early on, he wondered: What allows us to run at high speeds? How are we able to jump so high? How are we able to lift heavy weights? Also, more complex functions such as: How do we breathe? What allows our heart to beat constantly without stopping? How does the brain tell us to react or feel?
David started working in the Health and Fitness industry at the early age of 16 at his local YMCA as a basketball skills coach. He went on to attend Florida Atlantic University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion and a certification as an Exercise Physiologist. After earning a degree and becoming certified, he joined the cardiac and pulmonary rehab team at Broward Health Medical Center. Formally known as the North Broward Hospital District, Broward Health is listed as one of the top 10 largest public health systems in the U.S.
During his time with the cardiac and pulmonary rehab team, David saw numerous cases of individuals who lived similar lifestyles: minimal exercise, poor eating habits, and high stress. He recognized these three main categories are behaviors that are in our control and can literally add or take away years from our lives. Furthermore, it's transparent that our healthcare systems place far more emphasis on reactively repairing issues than proactively preventing health issues. As a result of this evaluation, Due Fitness and Health, LLC was created with prevention and education in mind.
